Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) – Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Role and Objectives


Role
As part of a visit by a press delegation comprising journalists from various parts of the world, the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), held a meeting with the journalists. During the meeting, she highlighted the avenues and prospects for strengthening joint cooperation between India and the international community in a manner that serves culture and intellectuals.
The ICCR serves as the cultural arm of India’s Ministry of External Affairs and plays a key role in promoting cultural diplomacy and building bridges of mutual understanding between India and countries around the world through cultural and educational exchange programs.
Objectives:
To strengthen cultural and intellectual relations between India and other countries.
To promote Indian culture, arts, and heritage at the global level.
To support academic exchange programs and provide scholarships to international students.
To encourage intercultural dialogue and deepen mutual understanding among peoples.
To leverage culture as an effective tool to support and advance India’s foreign policy.
